Since 1879…

After entering the Nieuwe Waterweg, De Haas Maassluis is the first shipyard towards the port of Rotterdam. This has been the case since 1879. And although the world has changed considerably in the years that followed, the core values of those days are still at the basis of our work: craftsmanship, customer focus and love for the trade.

In the history of De Haas Maassluis, it can be seen that the company’s activities initially focused on fishing vessels. This field of activity was later expanded to other forms of shipping. Over the years, many different vessels have left the shipyard. Built, adapted or repaired at De Haas Maassluis.

In 1979 a special book was published in honor of the yard’s centennial. Henk de Haas wrote in that book, “Even as a little boy I hung on the lips of my father, grandfather, aunts and also retired employees when they told me about Maassluis, its fisheries, and of course inseparable from this, the shipyard.”

These words are characteristic of the rich history of De Haas Maassluis. A yard where future-oriented work has always been done. This is demonstrated, for example, by the extraordinary hydrofoil PL30 Aquavion, which was developed and built in the 1950s and was far ahead of its time at the time.
